Pros and Cons of Portable Saunas
No matter where you live you can enjoy the benefits of a sauna with your own personal portable sauna. Portable saunas are available in both steam and infrared models and they are the perfect way for people with small spaces or limited budgets to enjoy the relaxation afforded by sauna treatments.
I’d like to look closer at the pros and cons of personal portable saunas.
Pros
A portable sauna is totally convenient. It is also easy to set up and no special wiring is required for power.
The portable sauna is of course very lightweight. Weighing just 15-65 pounds on average almost anyone can pick one up and move it wherever and whenever they like.
The portable sauna is the cheapest way possible to enjoy the benefits of a sauna. A full size sauna would cost many times more than a portable sauna.
Heats up very quickly. Full size saunas can take up to 30 minutes to heat up completely, but a portable sauna is heated and ready to go in just 5 minutes.
They are easy to store. Because they are so small and compact they don’t take up much space and you can store your portable sauna in a closet or unused corner of your room.
Some people don’t like saunas because of breathing the hot air. This is not a problem with a personal sauna as you typically lie down or sit with your head outside the sauna. Of course if you do like your head covered most models offer an optional head cover.
Cons
I can think of just two possible disadvantages to a portable sauna.
You don’t really get the intense type of heat that you would from a traditional sauna. If you enjoy this intense type of heat you might not like a portable sauna because the intensity just won’t be there.
If you are claustrophobic you may not like being confined in the small space of a portable sauna.
So, you won’t really get the full experience of a sauna. However, if you want the health and relaxation benefits of a sauna and if you need something small and lightweight that is cheap and easy to use a portable sauna could be just right for you.

How Much Does A 4 Person Sauna Cost?
A 4 person sauna is just what it sounds like, it is sauna made to accommodate 4 people. Typically it is made to fit in a corner due to its size and contours. You can find both standard 4 person saunas or designer models. For many the decision is in the cost as a designer model is sure to be more expensive. If you’ve got a large family or friends over all the time then you’re sure to want a larger sauna and the 4 person sauna fits the bill perfectly.
A 4 person sauna comes with multiple heating plates to ensure a deep and relaxing heat throughout the sauna. Many families are already enjoying the relaxation and health benefits that come with owning a sauna.
When looking for your own 4 person sauna it’s best not to scrimp on the important things such as the material the sauna is made of. Quality saunas are made from either cedar wood or Burmese hemlock, both of which have a very fine wood grain and smooth texture. The fine grain is important as it keeps the wood from absorbing too much moisture which could cause warping and cracking.
Most 4 person saunas are made here in the US and go for over $4000, however you will find cheaper saunas that are made in China for under $2500. The decision is up to you, but I would suggest going with the US made sauna as the craftsmanship and materials are generally far superior to those made in China. Even the design of the Chinese made saunas is poor compared with the US made saunas. The poorer quality materials in Chinese made saunas results in less benefits from the heat and steam of the sauna.
You’ll find that the most common material for the heating plates of the 4 person sauna is ceramic. Some manufacturers use carbon or aluminum for the heaters, but ceramic has been shown to be the superior material for emitting infrared heat. Check to see how many plates are used as there should be at least 6 heating plates used in a 4 person sauna to ensure an even and all over distribution of heat throughout the sauna. The plates should also be distributed from the top to the floor of the sauna.
